How to Get to Eiffel Tower
The Eiffel Tower sits on the Left Bank beside the Seine. Bir-Hakeim is the closest Metro stop, while Trocadéro and RER C provide useful alternatives depending on your approach, views and mobility needs. Check your ticket entrance before setting out because the tower grounds have several access points.

Metro line 6; the closest Metro station for many visitors, with a walk through the Champ de Mars.
Metro lines 6 and 9; a longer walk but excellent for the classic terrace view and photos.
RER C station; useful from central Paris, though service and access arrangements can change.
Best ways to arrive
From Bir-Hakeim
Follow signs for the river and Champ de Mars, then walk south-west towards the tower. The tower is visible as you approach, but security queues can begin before the grounds.
From Trocadéro
Exit towards Place du Trocadéro, take the steps or accessible route towards the Seine and cross Pont d’Iéna. This is scenic but can be crowded.
From central Paris or an airport
Use Metro or RER C after checking the day’s service status. Allow extra time for an interchange, security screening and finding the entrance printed on your ticket.
Practical visitor advice
- Book through the official Eiffel Tower website and confirm timed-entry, lift/stairs and security arrangements; availability and opening hours are time-sensitive.
- The grounds and approaches are busy around midday and sunset. A timed ticket does not remove all security or access queues.
- Step-free access is route- and level-dependent; check the tower’s current accessibility information and ask staff before choosing an entrance.
- Do not rely on a single Metro lift or RER entrance: maintenance, events and demonstrations can alter the practical route.
