What is the Opal card daily fare cap in Sydney?

Sydney's Opal card applies an automatic daily cap of AU$17.80 on weekdays and just AU$8.90 on weekends. Once you hit the cap, all further travel that day is free — no need to track individual fares or buy separate day passes.

Is there a direct train from Sydney Airport to the city?

Yes — the Airport Link connects both the international and domestic terminals to Central Station in about 13 minutes, running every 10 minutes. Note that Sydney Airport stations charge a station access fee on top of your standard Opal fare.

Can I use the Opal card on Harbour ferries as well as trains?

Yes — the Opal card covers Sydney Trains, Metro, buses, light rail, and Harbour ferries including the Circular Quay to Manly route. The Manly Ferry is one of Sydney's most scenic journeys and a great way to see the Opera House and Harbour Bridge from the water.
